Most companies feel it is appropriate to hold a Christmas function of some kind as a thank you for the hard work and commitment of its staff. The standard office party usually consists of staying after work with bottles of wine brought in from the local off licence. The music being provided by a boom blaster found in a dusty cupboard.
Of course some functions are far more elaborate costing thousands of pounds and as a Christmas party magician I have attended hundreds. I have seen some very interesting party ideas and thought I would share a few with you.

Many forms of entertainment can be brought into the office if you have decided not to spend money on an external location. Caricaturists, jugglers, comedians and magicians all work well in an informal environment.
If you have decided not to book a function room then spicing up the event with some form of entertainment can make a real difference. Although your staff will look after themselves giving them something to remember will improve moral and get them talking when they return to work.
As a Christmas party magician I know the impact good entertainment has on an event. Choosing the right entertainment for your staff is vital but if you get it right it will change the mood for the better.
Christmas parties are always positive and you want your entertainment to reflect this. Choosing something with the feel good factor is probably the best way to go. In my experience comedy is probably the best route. So which ever type of entertainment you choose I would recommend that the performer is fun or funny.
If your event is in a function room or hotel then entertainment can still play a vital role. People will expect a disco or band at the end of the evening but they may not expect a Christmas party magician, caricaturist or comedian.
If you do employ entertainment at a large event do make sure that you give them the best possible chance by setting the right conditions for them to work. Discuss the format of the evening with the artist or management they will always be happy to help.
